first off, aliza:

she’s workin on 7 months… & growing up extremely fast. since i watch her a few days a week i’m lucky enough to see all these changes… some gradual… some seem to happen instantly. anyway, it’s just so exciting to see her continually growing & changing… she just started going from tummy to sitting up recently, and will just go back and forth all day. not to mention she “dadada’s”… gosh i love that kid.
and no, that doesn’t mean i’m having one. i’m perfectly satisfied having a beautiful, perfect niece that i can laugh and play with… and then go back to my house and get a full nights sleep

in other news… janell’s home from switzerland!!! it’s so nice to have her back & she brought us some super cool swiss mustard (& chocolate, but that’s a given). also, we’ve been working really hard to finally get our beast of a dog potty trained. brian added a huge deck onto the side of our house, and the made a cool little fenced in area off the back of it… so we can take her out and not have to worry about anything. for the most part, she’s been doing really well… i think the concept’s really sinkin in laura’s off in ohio doing the college thing and seems to be having a marvelous time… and linda’s going to be going on a 10 month mission trip this winter… where to nobody knows. seems like everyone around here has exciting things going on but me. i’ve been spending a lot of my free time looking up houses and land lots…. brian really wants to build our next house, so we’re trying to find a house plan we both agree on… and somewhere to put this house… that we both somewhat agree on…. only time will tell.

my trip to cali was awesome– short, but awesome. of course i was completely nervous about flying alone… that’s never been my thing, and of course, my flight was delayed for no apparent reason. so, when i finally got my butt into houston i literally had to run to my next plane. i never wanted to be one of those people cuz i always think they look funny… but what can ya do. i got there just in time and that flight went much smoother than my first (no kids throwing fruitsnacks at me or hispanic girl who wouldn’t put our armrest down and who’s head kept falling in my lap everytime she’d dose off). anyway, needless to say, i survived. and it was so nice when jeff and kim came to pick me up. it was jeffy’s birthday too! which means mine’s in less than a month, people!!!

saturday we went into hollywood and saw all the handprints, chinese theater, scary people on drugs, etc. my two main points of intrest were the man dressed as johnny depp, and finding anything that denzel washington had touched. sooo that was fun. i’ve been to california so many times throughout my life, but don’t remember ever going there before. it was a good experience. then, the ENTIRE family, including some people i don’t know, went to this chinese place for a kinda ‘rehearsal dinner’ i guess. the company was good. the food was not. but then again i’m the pickiest person alive. at least there was white rice.

sunday was the ceremony. wow. it was really really awesome. it was really cool to see and hear about all the things my grandfather did throughout his life. i just knew him as papa, an old man who smoked a pipe. but he really had an impact on so many other people’s lives. and now, he’s left behind a library of his hymnals. he has a legacy, which most of us will never have. point being, it was a really incredible experience for me. and my entire stinkin’ faimly was there. all of them– how often does that happen? rhonda fleming even came. looking at her, and all of papa’s old friends, made me so sad though. ya know how i get with old people… and there were a whole lot of them in one room. i really never want to get old. maybe Jesus’ll come before i hit 70… we’ll see…. OH, and sunday night. robin campbell’s house. well, if you can call it a house. whoooieeee. it was the nicest ‘house’ i’ve ever been in. gorgeous. and all the kids accidentally drank margaritas. good times. i went to church sunday too, but disagreed with a lot of the things the pastor said… so we don’t go there.

monday morning i got up at 5 to head to the airport, and when we got there the plane had been delayed 3 friggin hours. OF COURSE. which also meant i’d be arriving in newark WELL after my plane to baltimore had already left. oh, and i could see air force one out my window. that was cool. soo i got on a later plane and didn’t end up getting into baltimore til 9pm. brian was so patient. he had to wait at the airport for over 3 hours, poor guy. even though it had only been a few days, it was so nice to see him (and he even got me flowers ) so then we had a 2 1/2 hour drive back home and got here around midnight. sheesh. it was a long day to say the least. my dog was sure happy to see me again. she hasn’t let me out of her sight since i’ve been back.

to summarize: it was good to get away from the eastern shore. i just feel like it’s so secluded from the rest of the world here. i need to do it more often, but take brian with me. or, maybe, we could just ‘get away’ permanently…. hmm…

seeing as how i’m a winter person, you can only imagine how excited i am that it is gunna SNOW on the second day of spring! it won’t stick… it never does here, but it’ll still be pretty.

now, in other news… i’ve been spending a lot of time chillin’ with my new niece. she’s the coolest. we’ve had a few photo sessions, and i put some of the pics up on webshots. her dedication was on sunday, and janell and the g-rents were able to visit. that was wonderful

oh yes, and the dog’s ‘heat wave’ is coming to a close. i’m pushing to get her fixed before it happens again, but brian seems to have other plans… so we’ll see. aside from ripping a huge hole in the couch, ripping all the fuzz out, tearing apart a lamp cord, and bleeding all over the place… she’s been quite a gem lately. she’s even entered in a stupid myspace contest for ‘hottest min pin’ [with 28 votes so far i think she’s in third place].

oh, and i planted bushes alongside the front of the house. they’re neato. & i pride myself on the fact that i dug the holes with a spoon. should’a just had the dog do it.

why? brian’s birthday was on the 1st. it went splendidly… then two days later we were surprised when carla went into labor and had her baby a little early! yaaay! her name’s aliza marie and she’s absolutely beautiful. that happened to be the same day as my mom’s birthday, which we went up to jersey to celebrate. going to jersey is so bitter sweet. i love it, but then two days later we leave and i cry the whole way home. i’m so blessed to have such an amazing family. so now, it’s tuesday, i’m home, and have a million things to do to get things back in order. we came home with all sorts of new things for the house that we manage to mooch off of the family… now i just need to find places to put them all. oh, and jeremy’s birthday is coming up on thursday! yaaay jeremy! consequently it’s the same night as the CASTING CROWNS concert! ahhh!! i almost pee my pants every time i think of it. OH, one more thing i forgot… cosby show season two comes out today! could life possibly get any better? well… yeah, but in the meantime….
